The imposing building of Radhika's new school looks as forbidding as its inmates. Dipa greets the girl with as much warmth as the cold nonchalance of snooty Mala. Radhika takes everything in her stride, even comes unscathed through Mala's showy birthday party. And Radhika does very well in school too. Dipa and she engage themselves in learning, correcting and growing up.

Devika Rangachari is a wonderful author who potrays the Indian middle class in such a detailed light. Her characters, so utterly charming are 'real' and inspiring. A startout novel for every teen/preteen who is keen on Indian fiction
