I find the approach to be pretty thoroughly ableist. "Oh the poor poor diabetic! They can't possibly handle this all by THEMSELVES! You have to do things FOR THEM! eleventy!!!!" (although it's not THAT extreme).

Given the publication date of the latest edition, of course a LOT of the technical information is thoroughly out-of-date. I wonder whether a later edition exists?
