Constant Reader

"You'd better be careful what you wish for. It sounds like you're going to turn into the ultimate Stephen King Wife." When newly successful author Claudia Danvers starts work on her second novel, she is disturbed to find a sinister story writing itself in the pages of her notebook. And as she is menaced by a stranglely familiar Voice with a fondness for puns, she finds herself remembering her husband's warning. Constant Reader is a humorous tribute to the work of Stephen King and to the powerful effect of literature on those who are truly willing to give themselves up to the story.

Being an actual "Constant Reader" of Stephen King I found this book an irresistible buy and I wasn't disappointed. At just over 100 pages it's not a long read but it's clever and very witty. The current obsession with fitting everything into genres and sub-genres, which I find infuriating, would make this a Literary/Fiction/Humorous/Horror offering at the very least.

I just really enjoyed it and consider the £5.99 to be money well spent! I'm definitely in agreement with Nicholas Royle's comment; "Clever and funny...I can imagine Stephen King would have a good chuckle at this."
