A collection of excerpts from and critical responses to key works by well known Argentinian authors who were disappeared by the government and its paramilitary organisations during the '70s and '80s. None survived, few were ever heard of again, even fewer were admitted victims of government brutality. What's remarkable is the scope of writers: from academics to poets, global superstars to community legends, none were immune and the horrible attacks on their families and communities remains appalling. The book's published in both Spanish and English, though the originals were mostly written in Spanish. The translation's awkward and clunky in spots but what's in the book - and the fact that it was published by the Argentinian cultural ministry - makes it worth reading.
