A Fateful Sentence is the 20th book in The.Secrets of the Castleton Manor Library series. It is an enjoyable cozy mystery with very likeable characters and the mystery kept me guessing. Faith Newberry is the librarian at Castleton Manor. Her boss and finally boyfriend is Wolfe Jaxon who co-owns the manor with his mother Charlotte. I was excited to read this book to see their relationship grow but Wolfe is away on business and only appears at the beginning and end except for a couple of phone calls. A group of writers are at the manor for a memoir writers retreat along with their pets including a python, a dog and a guinea pig. Nothing runs smoothly. Two people end up dead, the python is loose and the guinea pig is lost. Faith and her friends need to figure out what is going on. Of course Faith’s cat Watson was helpful finding clues and pets. The mystery kept me guessing and although I don't like the romance to overshadow the mystery, I was a little disappointed. I guess after 20 books, it is difficult to keep it fresh.
