Theodora Du Bois was born Theodora Brenton Eliot McCormick in Brooklyn in 1890. She wrote mysteries, historical fiction, short stories and children's literature.
Part pov from the McNeils, part pov from Linden who has seen a body and tried to report it, but when everyone went to look for it, it was gone.
The story is part mystery, a great deal of thriller, very gruesome in some points. DuBois doesn't shy away from showing hateful people or their actions.
This continues DuBois shift to writing more from the victim's point of view, breaking from writing through Ann's eyes.
I miss the writing through Ann's eyes, as Ann had such wonderful observations. This does remind me of some of the thrillers that Richard Lockridge wrote, ones that didn't involve his main crime fighting teams.
