Finally....one small book with excellent color photos that you can carry with you if necessary. The book gives enough information on trees and shrubs indiginous to Illinois that you can make a good selection for the type of soil, light and expertise you have. I've read other books that give more information but are cumbersome enough that you wouldn't want to drag it with you, or are void of photographs which makes finding the right speciman sometimes difficult. My husband is a bull head when it comes to gardening and thinks he can put something any place that "needs a plant" and it's good to something in black and white to show him. Although I got this copy at the library, we've since ordered our own copy as well as Perennials for Illinois.
