Charles Francis Horne (born January 12, 1870 in Jersey City, New Jersey - died September 13, 1942 in Annapolis, Maryland) was an American author of books. He wrote or edited more than one hundred books, mostly multi-volume history works. He was a Professor of English at City College of New York.
This book is incredible - that is, almost unbelievable. It is easy to see why these books were not included when the Bible was compiled. On the other hand, this book is incredible - that is, amazing. If the many miracles that are presented actually occurred during the infancy and childhood of Jesus, it would be easy to see why we believe in the Incarnation of God. It would also be easy to see why the church proclaimed that Mary was "ever virgin" and why some Christians believe that Jesus had brothers and sisters. Interestingly, these books show how both could be true. The books of Enoch, Noah and Adam and Eve are also very interesting - adding nuance and filling in some of the blanks that we have in our Holy Scripture concerning the early days of mankind. True or not (i.e. historical or not), this compilation of rejected books is stimulating and worth reading.
