Mick Grant: Takin' the Mick

Rate this book
In 1975 Mick Grant was the man who finally broke Mike Hailwood’s 1967 lap record for the Isle of Man TT course, with a lap at 109.82mph on the second lap of the final race of the week, the six lap Classic. Although that race ended in retirement, Grant had already won the Senior earlier in the week. From then on, until Joey Dunlop came into his prime in the early Eighties, Grant would be the man to beat in the larger classes of any TT. Yet the way his Isle of Man career began – flat last in the 1969 Manx Grand Prix on a Velocette – must be an encouragement to all other racers. His final TT win came in ’85 on the new GSX-R750 Suzuki, in the same class as his first, 750cc Production. He retired the same year and has since been mainly involved in race team management
