This is an overview of the types of incense and their methods of use. It did not have much in the way of recipes.

Having recently become obsessed with incense, I found Carl Neal's Incense Dragon videos on YouTube, which lead me to this book. It has the same gentle, enthusiastic, knowledgeable voice as his charmingly low-key videos. More about the practicalities of burning incense and a recipe book of ritual ideas, I will likely return to this book as a jumping off point for meditations and creative ways to burn incense (like chaining). I can't wait to read more about making incense itself.

I was surprised by this book. I didnt know there was so much to say about incense and when I got to the end of this book I knew I needed even more! I have this authors other incense book (Crafting and Use of Magical Scents) on order and cant wait to read it. I enjoyed the writing style and it had an awesome bibliography that Im using to learn more about this topic.

I thought this book included a nice history of incense and chart of uses etc., but it did not hold my interest throughout.

This is a great book, full of information on the history of incense and the different types of incense, but buyer beware if you're looking for recipes on how to roll you own.
