Cold case detective Charlie Vargas is searching for a killer
But what she really needs to know is what happened to her lover, who vanished several months ago. When the phone rings and she hears Seth's voice, she's skeptical. He tells her his name is Mason Alridge, and the only thing he remembers after his accident is the number he called…hers.
Mason looks nothing like her former lover, but there's there's something about his mannerisms, if not his face, that draws Charlie in. With the Feds following at a distance and someone trying to kill them, will they live long enough to find out his true identity?

I do love me a good amnesia story, and this one is no exception. There’s just something about a character not knowing who they are and who they can trust that’s incredibly appealing to me. Add to that facial reconstruction surgery which leaves him without even a face that could look familiar to not only himself but to those who might have known him before he was injured, and you’ve got me hooked.
What worked for me:
* As I said, I love amnesia as a plot device. On a similar note, I also enjoyed the fact that the man in the relationship is the one with amnesia. So often this plot device seems to be most often applied to women, so it was refreshing to see a man afflicted in this story.
* I really liked that both “Seth” and Charlie were hesitant to start up a relationship with his memory loss still in place. Both felt it would be taking advantage of the other, and I had to approve.
* I adored both Charlie’s dad, Sam, and her police partner, Julio.
* Three words: “Nag, nag, nag.”
* The Big Reveal injected just the right amount of angst to the story, without descending into melodrama.
What didn’t work for me:
* There was a strange little scuffle about halfway through between Charlie and “Seth” that didn’t really do it for me.
* Charlie felt a little too forgiving after a certain situation that would’ve had me sulking for a lot longer.
Just another item of note that I think is important to know ahead of time. When the blurb mentions that her lover disappeared, for some reason I was thinking that they’d had a longstanding relationship, when in reality, they’d only known each other a few weeks. This changes the dynamic of their previous relationship enough for me that I felt it important to mention.
Overall, I say that if you’re in the mood for an amnesia story without a lot of the melodrama of a Harlequin Presents, I’d highly recommend this book. 4/5 Stars.
This is a fast paced, very good romantic suspense I couldn’t put down from the beginning to the end. Charlie Vargas is a cold case detective with a bit of a broken heart, because her lover vanished several months ago. In addition to solving a murder case, her goal is to find what happened to Seth. Then, one day, the phone rings and she hears Seth’s voice at the other end of the line. The stranger says his name is Mason Alridge and the only thing he remembers after losing his memory in a car accident almost a year ago is this phone number…hers. He doesn’t have any physical resemblance to Seth, except for his eyes’ color and there’s also something in his way of acting, his tastes, that calls her memories. The two of them try to find out what happened putting together the small pieces that they have and on the way starts the romance, totally new for Mason, rekindled for Charlie. I liked Mason/Seth a lot, his awkward acting seemed lovely to me. Both Charlie and him are hesitant in starting a relationship before this mystery is solved. The story could have been longer, that’s the only thing I can complain about. The end happened quickly and lacked some details, but overall this is a good suspense. I recommend it for those who like mystery/thriller and romantic suspense books.
I'd never read anything by Ms. Cole before but happened across Memories of You and the blurb intrigued me. Definitely a page turner, and Ms. Cole did an excellent job with unfolding the story as well as the mystery. Great balance of suspense and romance. I do look forward to seeing what else Ms. Cole has available!
This book has twists and turns on almost every page. Very exciting and a great book to enjoy. My first by this author; certainly no my last. Very well developed and well presented.
This book started out with so much promise. It had a lot of great elements to intrigue the reader, but in the end fell a little flat in my opinion.
Charlie is a cold case detective and the daughter of a retired detective. When her lover vanishes without an explanation, she chalks it up as just another loss and another instance of being let down by a loved one. Then, one day, out of the blue she gets an intriguing phone call from a man claiming to know her, but he doesn't know how he knows her because he lost his memory in a terrible car accident. Sounds like a fantastic read right? I was sucked in pretty quickly, but the story didn't hold my attention long--around the time they took their trip to Mexico is about the time I started to lose interest. The "twists" weren't all that shocking and the story line in general was fairly predictable.
I think Cole could kick up the smut factor a little and it might give this story a little more umph!

This was a new author for me and this was definately not the last I will read from her either.
I was lucky enough to have an advance reading copy via the Kindle for this and once I started this I couldn't stop reading.
I loved the character of Charlie and I thought she was a strong, great no nonsense female. And Seth was very well written also, vunerable but hunky alpha male all rolled into one. The only real disappointment in this story for me was that the ending seemed to happen really quickly, it seemed quite abrupt, I would have liked it to have been stretched out a bit and maybe making the bad guy a little more less obvious (I like to guess who the bad guy is).
The book wasnt quite as long as a full length novel I dont think, but I could be wrong as it is hard to tell on the Kindle at times. Either that or I was so into it I just didnt notice the length :)
If you love a good romantic suspense then I would recommend this.
I really wanted to like this book but I just did not. At first I kept thinking I had read this story before especially because one of the main characters, Seth has lost his memory and cannot figure out who he really is but remembers a phone number to someone, Charlie that helps him remember his past. This sounds familiar.
The premise of this book was intriguing but just never panned out. It was like I was lost in the details and not getting the story. Someone else wrote that it felt rushed and I can agree with this statement but I just felt empty while reading this story. The characters were just blah and there was no connection for me. I also felt the characters were just too fake.
I will wrap this up by saying I just kept feeling like there was something missing in this story and that is why I gave it two stars rather than three.
Cole does it again. She adds mystery and comedy in every books she writes. Which makes the reading a joy. There were almost no editing or typos in the entire thing. Shows professionalism in her craft. She grabs us at the beginning and takes us for a wild ride. I wasn't sure who to trust or who to hate and it kept me on the edge. The only thing I was disappointed with was the overly long happy ending. I get the HEA but I didn't need to see the everyday life after the story ended. It does of course setup a good series if Ms. Cole wanted to go on with Julio -I'd probably be on board to read it. Leaving the reader wanting more is a plus. I think the Epilogue could have been dropped and it a first chapter for the next installment!
Memories of You by Bobbie Cole is a very intriguing thriller. This book is a real page turner and I found that it’s very, very hard to put down. I keep want to keep on reading so that I’ll find out what happened next, and I really have to say that my heart seems to beat faster when I was reading this book.
This book is also very sexy in it’s own way, and I certainly wouldn’t mind reading this book again.
This one had everything I like in a romantic suspense - I particularly liked Charlie, the heroine. She was funny, smart, competent. Her suspicious nature was overboard occasionally but it was understandable, knowing her background and made her all the more likable because she was not perfect. I also liked Seth - he had a lot of common sense and he met his situation stoically and even with a sense of humor. Loved Charlie's father too and her partner. In fact the characters are probably what raised this amnesia story up t the highest level for me.
I really enjoyed this book. I didn't think I'd like it from just reading the back cover but I was quickly surprised. I enjoyed the characters and the story. It was fast paced and I liked the action of the story. I would recommend this book to others.
Never read this author, but I must look up her stuff as I enjoyed this book quite a bit. The story line was wonderful, and I didn't figure out who did it till the character's did. Love that kind of story.
