I am probably not the absolute target market for this book since I used it to get familiar with my company's software that is .NET based. However, I have to praise Simon Smart's thorough approach to documenting and layout out this training. I worked through the entire book and did not get stuck once, it is solution-based (that is, you build bit of an application as you go) and the screenshots, detailed steps, etc. enable you to learn piecemeal throughout the entire process. I now feel like I have a grip on HTML, ASP.NET, and C# development in Visual Studio--none of which I had really even looked at before. If I was working in web development I'd have a good grounding to work from at this point, and would definitely take on the next Expert Skills volume. If you are a learn-by-doing person and programming is relatively foreign to you this book will deliver.
