Long recognized as the most comprehensive introduction to residential drafting and design on the market, this vital working reference uses step-by-step methods for the layout of each type of drawing required for a set of plans, encouraging designers to think through and solve design problems. Based on the latest UBC, CABO, and SBCCI codes, this edition emphasizes standardization as an excellent and necessary foundation of drafting training.
I struggled with the content in this book. I read it from cover-to-cover. I would understand it more if I practiced the exercises. I could not be a draftsperson, but maybe I added to my vocabulary.
This book has many errors. one example is page 579, SPAN TABLES: The book referances Appendix D, there is no Appendix D. Page 580: "To determine if D is suitable, examine the D value for the 6 X 12." D (deflection) is a calculated value. The value to examine is E (Modulus of elasticity) for the 6 X 12. Be very careful using any of Delmar's learning products.
