It's a Metaphysical World is a collection of over one hundred extraordinary short stories drawn from everyday life. Although names, locations, and incidental details have been changed, the salient facts are true. Each story deals with some aspect of metaphysical phenomena such as intuition, synchronicity, astral travel, bilocation, time warps, past lives, cell and soul memories, healings, hauntings, miracles, and sightings. Psychic sightings include everything from angels to ghosts. The strangeness of the stories led authors Marion K. Williams and Elena J. Michaels on a fascinating journey of discovery trying to understand the world they thought they knew. All stories offer insights, and many challenge conventional scientific and religious beliefs.
Book Review: It's a Metaphysical World By April M. Brown
The book, “It's a Metaphysical World,” is a compilation of personal stories from authors Marion K. Williams and Elena J. Micheals, M.Ed, covering a wide array of topics ranging from ghosts to demons, soul memories and healings, to miracles and angel visitations. Each author shares a collection of their own personal encounters with this unexplained phenomenon in two separate sections.
Section 1 focuses on the experiences of Williams, a well-traveled practitioner of the healing arts, hailing from New Zealand. Williams spent her childhood in various countries such as Japan, Canada and Ireland, and cites traveling as a current passion. This is apparent as most of her stories are set in countries around the globe.
Most of her experiences involve tales of ghostly encounters, making it clear that she has a strong connection and deep interest in the paranormal. She also shares stories of intuition and strong psychic connections with her family. One of the more interesting topics discussed in this section is bi-location, or the ability to exist in more than one place at once. She offers several examples of the phenomenon. The final story in her section explains how this topic, most of all, challenged her Christian beliefs, inspiring her find a connection between the phenomenon and stories rooted in her own religion.
Section 2 contains stories told by Micheals, a mental health and addiction counselor born in Austrailia, currently residing in Ontario, Canada. Micheals shares very similar experiences as Williams, steeped in ghosts and the paranomral, but adds a bit more variety. Tales of angelic visitors, auras, reincarnation and past lives make for an intriguing read and offer a respite from the numerous tales of ghosts and hauntings throughout the book.
By sharing over one hundred stories, it is clear that the authors believed that the abundance of stories provided legitimacy to their experiences. I personally felt it was too much, often wishing the authors would elaborate more in some instances while feeling some stories could have been left out altogether. The heavy emphasis on ghostly activity sometimes made it feel like I was being told ghost stories by the campfire rather than being enlightened on a variety of metaphysical subjects.
The book is full of interesting information and insight from both Williams and Micheals. Their common background and shared interests allow for many intriguing tales that challenge conventional belief systems - providing a good background for those who wish to learn more about the metaphysical world.
