An interesting read about a close group of friends who grow apart, but reconnect over the kidnapping of Kristin, an eight-year old girl. Alexander Holt, the protagonist, is hang-gliding in Mexico when he is “brought down to earth” upon hearing the news of Kristin’s disappearance. I was disappointed with the juxtaposition between this book and Icarus, the Greek mythological story. I think the author could have attempted a deeper thematic connection and avoided surface relations. That is my one grievance, but overall it was a decent read.
