Awakening into Oneness [Illustrated] 1st (first) edition Text Only

Rate this book
The ultimate potential of the Oneness Blessing is much more than its effects on the individual. The Blessing can precipitate a shift toward a completely different state of consciousness, where the sense of "me" as a separate entity dissolves. What remains is a simple and direct realization of Oneness, unclouded by the conceptual mind. The Oneness Blessing has been able to catalyze this shift for thousands of people, both in India and in the rest of the world. This is something so profoundly simple and glorious that it defies logical description. Oneness is the heart's deepest longing, the song of the ages.

This book speaks to some very interesting perspectives on spirituality and practices that surround it. It speaks to the possibility of radical change in outlook and circumstances through shifts in the brain that occur from very unusual means. Many of the views I held before reading it are supported and some of my beliefs have been called into question because my view was more narrow than necessary. The author himself was somewhat skeptical when he undertook the process of writing this book. Approach it with an open mind and you will be in for a pleasant surprise!

Grateful I read this book, before traveling to India to the Oneness University to take part in the 21-Day Program, offered in 2007. Arjuna succeeds in presenting an unbiased overview of the Oneness movement & Oneness Blessing (or "deeksha").
Sri Bhagavan and his wife, Sri Amma, knew since they were small children that they came to help transform humanity. From 1984 until 1994, they provided a school (Jeevrashram) "to provide an alternative form of education," writes Arjuna. "The primary focus, right from the beginning, was on spiritual maturity: to free the child of the sense of a separate self and of self-centered preoccupations. They aimed to create an atmosphere free of fear, free of competition."
"The experiment was a huge success: by the time the children graduated, their academic grades were far superior to those of students in other schools. Many of those children today have become doctors, engineers, and business leaders."
They also had profound, mystical experiences, while at the school. And they began spontaneously healing one another. I liked reading that when a new child arrived at the school with glasses, within days they could see perfectly.
Some of those children are now young adult guides or "dasas" at the Oneness University, a spiritual center near Chennai. I was honored to be welcomed, blessed, and offered teachings by the dasas, who speak with clear wisdom, maturity, compassion and a ready sense of humor. They are extraordinary beings, helping to create an extraordinary atmosphere for self-transformation.
Arjuna quotes Carl Calleman, author of The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness: "Humanity is endowed with a certain number of filters blocking the perception of the divine and creating an illusion of separation. When we come to that end date, October 28, 2011, all these filters will be removed - which amounts to an experience of Oneness, of not being separate from the universe or from the divine. That's the time when a new field will become established on this planet. That doesn't mean that all the changes will happen on that particular day, but once the field is established, throughout time, action will manifest from this new field.
"This will happen probably most intensely throughout the year 2012 and then continue in various ways. As we come closer to this end date, the chances of awakening will increase to a point where the field favors this shift toward Oneness, a cosmic consciousness without separation from the divine."
MIDWIFING THE SHIFT (page 171 in Awakening into Oneness):
"(Sri) Bhagavan does not claim that they are creating this long-predicted shift in consciousness at the Oneness University. Rather, he believes that the Oneness Blessing will help the brain to attune to the shift. It is rather like preparing for a monster wave. Handing out quality surfboards and lessons on how to use them could be the difference between drowning and, well, a truly awesome ride. Just as the most probable time line for the shift has been revealed to the dasas while in deep meditative absorption, so, too, have the ways that the Oneness movement can contribute to midwifing the shift been seen in visions."
I highly recommend this book and Arjuna Ardagh. I highly recommend the Oneness University, its teachings, and the Oneness Blessing.

Blessings to all ~ our surfboards are fully ready for the ride of our lives! This is the time we *chose* to Be Here Now.

I read Awakening last month. A friend had given me a copy in 2013. I took the weekend initiation in 2010. Lots of fun. Very beautiful. Simple.
I like this book. The tough questions are answered. When I hear the story of someone who wants to change the world - who has knowledge as impactful as Galelio sp?, Darwin or Freud and wants to get it to people I m inspired. a good read

The author outlines the story of the "Oneness Blessing", or "deeksha" as it is called in India. The Oneness Blessing is a transfer of energy which is supposed to heal the highest need in the receipient. The end goal of the Oneness Blessing is to bring about the realization of oneness. This state of consciousness brings feelings of peace, joy, love and the sense of "me" as a separate entity has disappeared. I receive the Oneness Blessing at my church and it always leaves me feeling, calm, centered, peaceful, energized and happy. I can feel the positive energy flowing throughout my body while I am receiving the Oneness Blessing. I would highly recommend the reading of this book and the receiving of the Oneness Blessing to everyone.
