I thought this book was amazing because it teaches about helping others. Notice how it says helping someone, not doing something for someone. If you are helping your classmate with his/her homework you are saying: "This is how you do it, do you understand now?" not "5x5= 25 not 20, and 10x9= 90, not 70." My favorite part was when they were talking about Mother Teresa because she dedicated all her life to helping the poor and the needy. She helped orphans and sick people. She said "Let us keep the joy of loving in our hearts and share this joy with all we meet." This means we should help everybody, not just people you know. Jesus said "Love thy neighbor." Your neighbor is anybody in the whole world, not just the people who live right next to you!
This is a great book to read with your child about how to care for others and how it feels to have others care for them. It is kid friendly and has questions and thinking prompts to give additional thought into what caring is and how it plays a role in our lives.
