probably more like 3 and a 1/2. I thought it was interesting and a pretty good read but I think it felt like it kind of lacked direction. I get it can be a challenge given the books format but I've read other similar books that seem like they are more purposeful, even if its just deciding to focus on a more specific time scale. Would be interested to read an updated version of the book especially if it gave more airtime to climate change.
The book is just as advertised: articles from the 2000's focused on water in the West. The articles are generally well-written and the book as a whole exposes environmental issues including continued ground-water contamination, water shortages and the apportioning of the Colorado River. If you are following any water-related issues (from agriculture to forest fires), this is a useful and interesting read.
