These are great historical novels about Australia, if you like Australian authors and history buy them, ADAMS EMPIRE the first book is about a boy who was orphaned at the age of nine in a desert storm out west. He would never forget the words of his father "its a great country but never trust it, its beautiful but its treacherous." Adam uneducated and growing up on cattle stations falls in with a aboriginal prize boxer, they find themselves having a run in with the law and high tailing it. Falling in love or in lust with a half cast Adam finds himself torn in the age of the 1920,s and marries a girl of a well to do family instead. Covering the great depression Adam takes you to the opal mines of NSW and to the city of Sydney across to a cattle station in WA and down to the deserts and salty shores of lake Eyre in SA showing you how a uneducated man made an empire in the hardest time Australia has seen. But I do warn you though I couldn't put this book down it is no short read with the 764 pages it will keep you awake for nights on end if you like this kind of book.
