Very interesting book about a very interesting character! Eric ‘Winkle’ Brown was a Fleet Air Arm pilot during WWII and test pilot post war. He even interviewed Herman Goring. I have read an account where Goring goes to shake hands with Brown, he couldn't shake his hand so gave Goring an old German fliers greeting which he appreciated, strangely this encounter is not mentioned in this book. I read somewhere that this book was actually ghost written by a bod at the Admiralty, whether this is true or not I do not know but I can tell you it’s well written and easy to read. Some of the technical stuff maybe needed better explaining but comes over is his love of flying. He flew 457 different types of aircraft! A record which is unlikely ever to be broken. The books end is quite abrupt but it’s still a great book.
