This is a short book aimed at young people written by an All-Star Football player who used his platform as a professional athlete to try to influence people about the Christian faith. The fact that he played for the Cleveland Browns in the mid-sixties when the Browns won their last championship, makes his book of interest to Cleveland fans who go back that far. He starts with his own story as a football player and as a Christian. While I don’t agree with his strong emphasis on making a decision to give your heart to God, I can appreciate his dedication to being a faithful witness to his faith. He makes use of a lot of football analogies to make his points which should appeal to football fans. The references to teammates took me back to my teen years when many of them were my favorite players. While my copy of the book shows it’s age, it is an autographed copy which makes it special to me.

A great book on Bill Glass a former defensive end for the Cleveland Browns back in the sixties found the Lord and lived his life by his faith. There is a good chance I would never had read the book if I were not a life long Cleveland Browns fan. I am 65 years old so I remember many of the people and athletics mentioned in 'Get in the Game'. It was also nice to remember the Browns last Championship back in 1964.
