Rate this book
Fifteen-year-old Allie Carson was going shopping. As she put on her ski jacket and gloves, she thought about a dozen things. But she never thought about getting shot. She never thought her life would end with a flash from a gun. A bullet. A spray of blood from her neck. But it did.

It is raw and gritty. A great read for struggling readers as the story is high interest but lower vocabulary. It’s also based on true events in Toronto on Boxing Day. Great intro to point of view and voice in a text. Covers gang violence and the ramifications.

The book was kind of okay but mostly boring because it always talks about a fifteen year old kid who was shot while shopping. After reading this book I was thinking why the author using one illustration per chapter. This book was based on a true story.
