Strange things, dreams. How much credence should we give to where our subconscious takes us?
There were many things Draco did not need in his Sixth Year. He did not need Theodore Nott implanting strange dreams in his head, for one.
In the ensuing years, he did not need to constantly remember that blissful, impossible dream. He further did not need Potter bursting into his mostly turned-around life to embroil him in a conspiracy at Azkaban. And he definitely did not need to embark on a clandestine investigation into prisoner mistreatment with Hermione Granger.
"Granger, I think life with you would be a dream."
i have a type. (in fanfiction, that is.)
angst. with hilarious banter and charged chemistry. preferably with really fun, non-annoying side characters. an undertone of a high stakes plot that, at the end, will push the leads together. rinse, and repeat.
but all that in draco's pov? perfection. absolute complete bliss. immediately bookmarked and i kick my feet and start screaming into my pillow.
Another great read from HeyJude19. This one being only from Draco's POV was a wonderful surprise. A rarity in the many Dramione's I read.
Hermione was fierce in this one. Very strong, very smart. The dialogue between the two of them was incredibly well written. Plus the mystery portion of the story kept me interested. There was never a stalled moment or any time where it started to run out of steam. I was invested from the beginning.
In the end, I wished there had been more court time and prosecuting the bad. Also seeing how those manipulated, healed. What of Draco and Hermione's future IE wedding, kids, life with their friends.
4.5 stars. I love everything HeyJude19 writes. This is no exception. This story is funny, angsty, and mystery-ey. Characterizatons of Draco and Hermione are well done and the writing is just amazing. Highly recommend.
When the story starts, it's 6th year. Ya know, the real bad year for Draco. He's having a bad time and he just wants some sleep. He has a dream that involves Hermione and becomes boderline obsessed with it.
Moving to 2003, Draco is bored at home (and not handling it well) while Hermione is a solicitor. Hermione's firm has a program that is trying to get young Death Eaters out of Azkaban by having their sentences re-evaluated. After a big thing happens, Harry Potter learns that the conditions in Azkaban are NOT good. Hermione is set on helping. But she requires some help in the form of Draco Malfoy. They begin investigating and learn some shocking things. And why can't they get any of the inmates to tell them anything?
Dramione are reluctant work partners who investigate corruption at Azkaban whilst simultaneously trying not to break the parameters of proper co-worker office relations (reading legal notes as foreplay).
4.5⭐️ Okay but wait. I feel like this fan-fic is slept on?? I read this after “Remain Nameless,” (which I loved) and thought her writing was actually so much better in this one. It’s a 97,712 word count, so “short” for a fan fic, but I thought the story and relationships were fantastic.
My main issue is that this is one of those cases where having the story be a single POV was to its detriment.
I felt so disconnected from Hermione as a character that it was hard to immerse myself in the story or relationship. There was so much that should’ve have been shown or addressed that wasn’t. I spent most of this story either giggling at the cuteness or rolling my eyes and considering a dnf because of how irritated I was with how Hermione felt like a small side character with not enough depth. This might’ve been a four or five star read if it had her pov so that I could understand more about her but alas.
There were parts I liked. I love fics where a big basis of their relationship is their intelligence and intellectual compatibility. I also loved the banter. I also liked Draco’s pov and his character development.

Dramione fanfictions will always be an easy read for me. Probably because I have already established the facts that I love the characters and always will. This book is a really good one. I just love the easy banters and not too much negativity towards Draco. I hate it when Draco's kind of sullen in a story. I love this easy Draco, and I love how Hermione and Draco had came round to one another, no sudden magic or whatever that influenced it. No ministry matched marriage or mates what-nots, just a normal two people fell in love kind of situation. Love the book!
This is the one where Theo makes Draco dream of happiness and he dreams of a life with Hermione. Too bad real life is messy and his past decisions make it imposible for that dream to come true, or you would think.
This FF is short compared to others, by much. We get the sweet Draco while still being proud, smart and dramatic. It was fun to read, and a bit of fresh breath. We get a little bit of angst, the plot was well executed and had a happy ending.
I didn't love Hermione's reaction to Draco keeping a secret - felt a bit too close to "misunderstanding for the sake of misunderstanding," but otherwise, I enjoyed the story.
Loved this version of Theo, even though he was much more tame than I'm used to. Interesting new magical uses and a creative look at ministry corruption.
I also really enjoyed Hermione being a lawyer and Harry's work partnership with Angelina.
This was cute! Nothing exceptional, but I may have just read too many Dramione fanfictions at this point for this one to really stand out, but something that really stood out to me was the aspect of having Goyle as part of the story. So many Draco stories just sweep him under the rug, and this was an interesting take.
This took me awhile to get thru but I love this author. This story was v cute, I do hate a miscommunication trope which is what made me take awhile to read this lmfao. But I love any book with Theo and Blaise (& together how perf??) I also just loved the found family in this book between all the characters.
I don't read enough falling in love from a guys POV. Maybe I'm just feeling really Harry Potter nostalgic but this was a tear jerker. It was good. Only 19 chapters. I wanted a slightly better ending, but good.
AAAAAAAAAAA🧍🏼♀️🧍🏼♀️🧍🏼♀️🧍🏼♀️ this was like the perfect fanfic. It had ALL MY DREAM TROPES all wrapped up in one little fic🫠 legit the perfect standard canon dramione in my mind. 10/10. No notes.
4.5 stars, really. If you are looking for beautiful writing, intriguing plot, well-rounded characters and cheeky banter, this is the fic for you. One of the very best Draco POVs I've ever read.
