Richard Norton Smith is an American historian and author, specializing in U.S. presidents and other political figures. In the past, he worked as a freelance writer for The Washington Post, and worked with U.S. Senators Edward Brooke and Bob Dole.
Interesting book which provides brief essays about how former Presidents of the USA spent their post-presidential years. Written while George W. Bush was still President, various Presidents up through Bill Clinton are discussed. Particular time is given to those who lived a long time after they were out of office, obviously, such as Herbert Hoover, Harry Truman, George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter. I have seen the author on numerous book-review type shows on C-SPAN and his interest in Presidential history really comes through in his writing.
