Rate this book
"This book presents and elaborates on the history of the oldest privatization in Eastern Europe, illuminating the principal regulatory framework provided by today's law in Hungary. The successes and failures are presented objectively, the results of which provide excellent material for western researchers and experts as well as interested parties from other Eastern European countries. A basic overview of the fundamental problems and limitations of privatization (and reprivatization) are presented as are the various issues associated with shareholding by former enterprise leaders and employee participation in the privatization process. The possibilities and limitations of foreign investment are also discussed not only in terms of the various accomplishments to date, but also in terms of the expectations and potential for private foreign investment. Finally, the most recent Hungarian legislation regarding privatization is presented and analyzed in detail. The supplement of the book contains the Hungarian Rules of Law in Force from 1992 on privatization."
