The Groggs Have a Wonderful Summer

Rate this book
Dirty, boring, old. That's what people called the town of Slaggton. Dirty and old it certainly was, but boring? Well, it might have been if the Groggs hadn't lived in Slaggton. Mr Grogg was a marvellous inventor, and when his family were disappointed because there wasn't enough money for them to go to the sea for the summer, he decide to invent something better! Soon after that a mechanical digger turned up and dug up the garden; then Mr Grogg took to working all hours of the night in the shed. What was going on? What was he making? The day came when Mr Grogg was ready to show them.

This was the most popular book in the Infants, you had to fight super hard to get your hands on it during visits to the School library. I saved it from the bin in my last year at Primary school by removing the very battered book jacket.

I spent many an hour hoping and praying that my dad could build the seaside in our backgarden. Whenever I asked my dad he said 'Maybe...' because he didnt have have the heart to tell me it wasnt really possible.

Still hoping and praying.
