I appreciate that Gauquelin attempted to apply the scientific method to the millenias old tradition of Astrology which is commonly regarded as a pseudo-science by modern audiences for it’s lack of measurable evidence. I think anyone who has a healthy fascination and skepticism of astrology may appreciate measurable evidence to corroborate or deny the accuracy of predictions formed by astrological readings or similar cosmological scrying.

Planetary Heredity takes a surprisingly tame and measured approach to the kinds of claims it makes for how positions of the planets, etc. may affect and predetermine attributes of individuals. The results from Gauquelin’s experiments can be a bit vague also, but I suppose that is the nature of his work being, as of yet, inconclusive. This book is heavy in its use of statistical models and language. In fact, it reads more like excerpts from scholarly articles than it does as a narrative examination or retelling of the history of the experiments, in my opinion. For this reason, be ware, because it can be a bit dry and tedious to read.

My statistical literacy is not sufficient to determine the flaws or validity of the tests applied or results gained by Gauquelin’s processes. If you are curious about criticisms of this work, there is a 1992 paper by Suitbert Ertel titled ‘The Gauquelin Effect Explained? Comments on Arno Muller’s Hypothesis of Planetary Correlations’ that analyzes some of the claims made by Gauquelin and Muller with regards to details of this book. Currently, this paper can be found for free on Researchgate.net linked here - https://www.researchgate.net/publicat... .
