Gunfire and the fiery sting of bullets spiraling through his body are BLAKE "BULLETFACE" KING's last memories before the coma. Left struggling for his life following the vicious South Beach shooting, Bulletface wakes up in a Dade County hospital weeks later and immediately sets out to recuperate and bounce back to being the celebrity rap god he's been for the past several years. With tons of cocaine and billions of dollars in illegal drug money at his disposal, Bulletface knows he'll be back to his old self in no time. When he learns what has happened to his archenemy, TRINTINO "T-WALK" WALKSON, the news brings him peace. But not for long. Soon, Bulletface will encounter the brothers of his nemesis and he'll discover that their level of treachery is almost as lethal as THE COCAINE PRINCESS. Is the rap god built to take on this new threat to his life? Will he show the world once and for all that he lives the life that he raps about? Or will he become the next rapper to go down in a haze of gunfire?
This book had me captivated from the beginning to the end!
Yes there is a lot of name dropping and I've read some book that had some corny ass name dropping but this author blended everything well and it didn't bother me one bit ... It actually gave me a better picture of the story.
Starts off just right from the beginning to the end the characters made me laugh Alexis is gonna be just like her father was before he went down this book is full of action & drama I loved it & now I'm ready for the next book. I'm hooked
Very interesting storyline! Love it! Is Alexus strong enough for this task or will she allow sex to b her downfall. Actually looking forward to reading all of the novels.
I picked this up after reading that the author had such spectacular success. I'm not too proud to look for cues as to how to hook a reader or find an audience wherever they might be dug up.
Have to say though, it... Well, whatever appeal is beyond me.
The characters are comically absurd clichés, who are spitting images of celebrities to further lessen the burden of evoking them, and the book otherwise read more like a product placement class than a book. Everything is branded and labelled, right down to someone wearing not a 'Bulls cap' but a 'New Era Bulls Cap.'
Even the protagonist's bed was branded, to appeal to the closet interior decorators amongst the readership I suppose.
But again, the man apparently hit number one with this, which I have unavoidably done not once, so he's clearly found his audience and good for him on that score! I don't get it, and I don't dig it, but I wish no one ill in the writing field, except plagiarists like Dan Brown, who no doubt worries about my opinion constantly through the haze of millions separating us. Just, stealing from other authors is low.
Or those who spread hate or fuckwittery, of course. But lest this devolve into another comment on Trump, back on track:
I mean, some detail, some brand IQ is certainly an asset, if it worked for Ian Fleming... But this is just ridiculous, and shows more ability with a search engine than taste. It's fairly clear the author is aspiring, which again, nothing wrong there, but the name dropping comes off so monotonously metronomic that it goes from amusing to annoying to actually making the story hard to read.
I can't comment about the drug dealing aspect, not having any experience or relevant research done there, but as a pants-warmer this fizzled, the protagonist couldn't be any more plastic if she were 'Alexus by Mattel,' about the only product placement the author missed.
No hate here, just an honest opinion. If you write the good ones, gotta write the less so, or so I feel. Otherwise the reviewer risks coming off as a shill. (Pointing that at precisely no one in this thread, mind!)
Where to begin... the writing isn't bad, the story itself is interesting. It's just Alexus. She came off to me as a ghetto Mary Sue: perfect at the drug game, a sex expert when she's never been intimate with anyone, everyone lusts after her... all of this at 18 and fresh out of high school. Then again, some of the key characters came off as being too flawless. Most of the characters, honestly, just aren't believable. Aside from that and the constant references to brand names, I enjoyed the story.
Hmm. So far, so good but this was just setting the tone. Not too much happened yet but I can see the possibilities. My issue is that it stopped so suddenly. It didn't leave me excited to read on because it just faded out. I'm also not too thrilled with Alexis. She could be a little smarter. She's not a thinker. She's more of a slut than a drug dealer. Sex seems more important to her than money. I will read on and hope it gets better.
I was so excited there was finally a book about an area i live close too. I found this book to use a lot of old slang but once u get past that it was pretty good. I dont know about Alexus yet.. On to part 2
