The Strange and Terrible Adventures of Popoki, the Hawaiian Cat
You can get into trouble even in paradise!
Popoki, a spirited Hawaiian cat, did not like rules. He didn't listen to his grandmother. And he got into trouble - BIG trouble.
During his visit to the Big Island, Popoki learned that a volcano can be a dangerous place. He also learned that it's scary to be lost, and that sometimes, mysterious things happen when you're trying to find your way home.
This beautifully illustrated full color book captures the spirit of this spunky little cat as well as the dramatic volcanic landscape of the Big Island.

Beautiful, whimsical illustrations. It was my cousin Gabriel’s favorite book between the ages of 1 and 5. My favorite illustration is on the page that says, “After that,, Popoki lived in Leilani’s garage in Hanalei Town. Almost every day he caught a rat in the sugar cane field across the road and proudly left it by the front door.” It shows a picture of Popoki on the front doorstep with a rat lying on its book holding a batch of flowers.

We have a godchild in Gaza. Her name is Mira. We support her and her mother financially but I also started reading her stories and upload the videos to YouTube where the system generates subtitles and even Arabic audio.
This is such a wonderful story which I read for our son when he was little. The tradition lives on and I am able to bring a little of our Hawaiian heritage to a child in Gaza.
