The battle itself is very inadequately described. After HMS Exeter which carried 8" guns was severely damaged, HMS Ajax and HMAS Achilles closed the range and it was the fire from their 6" guns which forced the Graf Spee to run without finshing the destruction of Exeter.

A sea story of an actual happening

The British were having a very tough time in this period of time. The sinking of the Graf Speed was used throughout the rest of the war.
