~This is a general review for the books 1-7~
May contain minor spoilers
(warning: these books were read with the help of baka-tsuki's translations, therefore meaning it is possible that meaning was lost in translation)

The beautiful and manipulative leader, Mikazuki Yozora
The ever self-loving and perfect blonde, Kashiwazaki Sena
The erotic and genius science girl, Shiguma Rika
The passionate and Japanese history loving woman, Kusunoki Yukimura
The energetic and hardly holy Sister, Takayama Maria
The adorable little sister and 'vampire', Leysis Vi Felicity Sumeragi (aka Hasegawa Kobato) and
The pudding-haired delinquent protagonist, Hasegawa Kodaka

These seven unique characters make up the 'Neighbours Club', the group responsible for the entertaining stories and mishaps shares with us in this series of light novels.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (僕は友達が少ない), by Hirasaka Yomi and Buriki, tells the story of a group of high school kids (with a few exceptions) spending their time in the Neighbours Club - trying to make friends. The story starts with misunderstood and delinquent-looking Hasegawa Kodaka walking in on our club founder Mikazuki Yozora talking to her friend - her air friend - Tomo-chan. This moment leads to the forming of the neighbours club and soon enough, we are taken on a ride of funny and exciting adventures with the seven 'friendless' members of the club.

Hirasaka has done a wonderful job at creating lovable characters with unique personalities and it is difficult to understand why such characters have no friends...sometimes. Even the more recently introduced characters Yusa Aoi and Takayama Kate have an impact on the reader. However, the tragic flaw, all of them are in love with our protagonist in some form or another - an element that does get old when reading Japanese light novels (although my heart longs for Yozora and Kodaka interactions).

The art for the story is extremely well done and has won illustrator Buriki many awards, coming second twice and first once in the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! awards. They add a welcome touch to the novel and help the reader picture what's going on in the story.

The story is filled with comedic adventures and gives the reader an insight into the life of the friendless. It will at times make you laugh, make you frustrated and more recently (in novel 7) bring forth troubled and sympathetic feelings for the characters.

While it may not be the most interesting series of novels you will read, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai is a refreshing tale of the misunderstood and friendless that is true to the Slice of Life genre. It is a recommended read for those looking for a laid back and relatively short novel and especially for those who are fans of the anime adaption.

I, myself, am eagerly awaiting the translation/release of future novels in this series.

I felt this book to be missing the pace comparing it with the previous books.
I liked/disliked the way Yozora was portrayed on this book (she has been my favorite character from the very beginning), just my opinion

*spoilers ahead*
Althought the author uses to introduce information to create situations for comedy relief, i felt it was too convenient this time that Maria blurts about the engaged thing the vary same day Kodaka founds out about it.
*end of spoilers*

I hope the 8th and 9th book are written more like from the 1st to the 6th were written than like this one.
