After the events of Epiphany, partners Elijah Tupper and Dust decide to support themselves as freelance wizards. Their work brings them to a tiny town in Upstate New York where a killer is targeting magic-users. It seems like a local legend might be responsible for the murders, but Elijah and Dust sense something wrong with the secretive community. They find it difficult to decide who to trust, as almost everyone seems to be hiding something. Though they're in danger, the two young men desperately need the paycheck.

The appearance of a mysterious man with connections to the legendary protector of the town complicates their efforts. Their investigation reaches a standstill, and if they can't find the culprit by Halloween, when magic is at its most powerful, they might not have a chance to save the small town or themselves.

Freaking awesome. If you want a great Halloween story to get you in the mood this is a great choice. So creepy, Dust and Elijah are called to a small town to investigate some odd goings-on. This reminded me of some of King's short stories.
