Rate this book
“Through the Eyes of My Mulatto Daughter,” takes place in the late 1960's in Selma, Alabama; where an interracial couple, Richard Adams and Marilyn Halston has encountered relentless ridicule, threats, and even beatings by white southern racists - all for the sake of love. The couple escaped that place and time by migrating to the West when they married – for Marilyn this was just the beginning of her tormented future.

Brittney Adams, their daughter and founder of Ebony Eyes, a home for troubled pregnant teens discovers an unspeakable secret her parents had concealed for over thirty years. Brittney’s persistent unraveling of the truth forces the family to come face to face with the demons from their past. Still distressed and afflicted - Brittney is faced with yet another challenge. A new resident, a sixteen year old pregnant teen, Angela, is being stalked by a mysterious man. As Brittney tries desperately to protect her mom and now Angela – a deadly accident takes place in the Adams’ home.

About the author

Born and raised in Southern California, Michele Waters exemplifies the true meaning of the words dedicated, diligent and driven which she has so effortlessly been able to project through her many business ventures, including her first novel "Can't Let Go."

Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2000, and after overcoming the normal emotions of anger, depression, denial, and fear, Waters wondered why this disease, one of the most unpredictable diseases one could have. She questioned and wondered about her independence, her passion to set and reach goals, her family and children that still needed her guidance. But in 2007, she learned she had been misdiagnosed with the disease and although it was upsetting to have lived for seven years with the thought of having this disease and taking medication in vain, Waters felt that this was God's way of causing her to view and live life with a whole new perspective. Her personal story is one of courage, patience and faith that aided her to a path of self-determination, self-motivation and strong will.

Her writing style is simple, sophisticated; yet full of suspense. With "Can't Let Go," she is proven to begin a successful track record to challenge the likes of her colleagues within the literary world. Waters states that by God's grace and support of family and friends, she is relentlessly inspired to never put off or not attempt to try to accomplish something based on fear.""
