Curses, spells, fairy tales...no thanks! Sakaria Thorpe prefers the reality of running a café over the nonsense of make believe. But is it really make believe? When she finds herself cursed to be a shapeshifting cat, she becomes a believer. Good thing she’s able to fit shapeshifting into her schedule. Life’s fine until she discovers she will be cursed to be a cat forever if she doesn’t find a man to break the spell by midnight on Halloween.Desmond Fields sticks to routines and cold hard facts. He falls for the beautiful but quirky Sakaria the minute he sees her behind the counter. Now Sakaria must convince Des of the improbable, that the woman he’s falling for needs him to recognize her inner feline in order to break the spell. Time’s running out and Sakaria is getting desperate...will true love save the day?
Wow, I loved it! I wanted this story to last forever. I literally couldn’t put this book down and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. The writing is superb and smooth as it makes you feel like you are one with the characters. The connection between Sakaria (Kitty Cat) and Desmond (human) is so sweet and the erotic scenes are steaming hot.
I loved how the plot started where Sakaria receives a letter from a one-time date that curses her to be a cat and then from page 31 it describes how the curse could be removed. “In order to break the curse, a man has to break the spell. He has to be in love with your, like, inner essence. Then he’ll like, know you in your cat form and call you by your totally sexy name Saaaa-kaaaa-riiiia.”
This story had me glued to the pages and was so interesting as the drama unfolded and I found it very humorous and cute throughout the whole story. I loved Sakaria, her roll becoming a cat was well described and entwining the cat traits while in human form was hilarious. With the excellent happy ever after ending it made me want to be a cat too - LOL
This was an enjoyable read. All the characters were three dimentional including the side characters. I did get a little miffed with Sakaria for not dealling with being cursed in a more active manner but thankfully thats what friends are for (Julia, you rock!). It wasn't that I didn't understand her actions it's just that there were things that needed to be addressed and time was not on her side. Desmond was a great character, a regular guy with a heart of gold, not some overbearing alpha male jerk.

This was a surprisingly funny and furtastic read. Sakaria is just an ordinary café owner until a bad date gone wrong, curses her to transform into a cat. If she doesn't get the curse lifted before Halloween, she'd remain a cat forever. Trying to get used to her double life as a café owner by day and and roaming the streets as a cat by night, she's had to make some pretty big adjustments. But the problem is that she's starting to enjoy her second life as a cat. That is until she meets Desmond, and the answer to breaking her curse. I enjoyed this read more than I thought I would. Sakaria's cat life was funny and entertaining as she learned the ways of cats.
Eh. This was a quick, insubstantial little read. Not bad but like I said .. insubstantial. The main character, Sakaria, is cursed by a guy she spurns to turn into a cat until she someone falls in love and knows the "true" her. There is a time limit. If she doesn't find someone by Halloween, he curse will be permanent. The reasons for the curse and the spurned ex-lover are played for comedy but the book itself doesn't feel very comic.
Sakaria learns how to control her shifting from cat to human and back and some of the descriptions of her forays as a cat were interesting. But overall I was rather puzzled by her lack of urgency to break to curse. She seemed to just roll with it for awhile.
Of course this is a romance so she eventually does hookup with the hero who's reaction upon eventually learning that his lady love is also the stray cat he found was a bit underwhelming.
I loved all the characters even the secondary, mostly because the author didn’t go with the typical stereo type. Each character was three dimensional. Sakaria for instance was far from the stereo typical African American Heroine. Despite her being a successful business woman, she is such a procrastinator and though she occasionally shows some attitude it’s only when provoked. Desmond Fields is far from the normal leading man, he is attractive but it’s in the normal average guy way and he works at home as an insurance accountant not some rich self-made millionaire.
Basically this is a story about your average normal people put in a non-average abnormal situation. It made for a hysterical plot.
This was a sweet, well written, and humorous story that I absolutely recommend.
