Mcgraw-Hill Series in Mechanical Engineering

An Introduction to Combustion: Concepts and Applications w/Software Second Edition [2/Ed]

Rate this book
This Second Edition retains all the same primary objectives as the original First, to present basic combustion concepts using relatively simple and easy-to -understand analyses; and second, to introduce a wide variety of practical applications which motivate or relate to the various theoretical concepts. The overarching goal is to provide a textbook which is useful for both formal undergraduate study in mechanical engineering and in related fields, and informal study by practicing engineers.

This introductory text is motivating and informative. I enjoyed the methodical structure of the material - the gradual buildup from concepts and fundamental equations to simple systems and ultimately to turbulent flames. I anticipated that studying combustion would serve as a capstone to my previous study of thermodynamics, perhaps my favorite subject as an undergraduate student. In hindsight, I could have chosen among a number of subjects to serve this role.
