Litellus Russell Muirhead (1896-1976) travel writer & editor for the Blue Guides. He often wrote, edited and updated that travel series with his father Findlay Muirhead.
Muirhead was also editor for The Penguin Guides which began publication in March 1939 with the first Guide, G1 Kent, Sussex and Surrey. The first six volumes were all produced at the same time. In September 1939 war was declared, and the production of maps for public sale was suspended as maps could be used by the enemy.
