As a New Yorker, this is the most generic, unhelpful, touristy guide books. It claims to know THE places to go in New York, the places locals go, hole in the wall kind of places. And it absolutely disappoints this claim.

Not only is it so touristy and nothing at all what “locals” do, but it recommends places like franchises that most people who live in mid to large size cities and suburbs have probably already experienced. Like no I’m not going to travel all the way to NYC to explore Bloomingdale’s, I’ll drive 25 minutes to my local mall and have the same experience. All the non franchise places are tourist attractions that are already flooding with tourists and not locals.

Seriously if you want to explore NYC as a local, look at this book of exactly what not to do and where not to go…
