I really wish I had read when this was written before deciding to read this book. It was only when I got to about 85% & almost couldn't take the style of writing anymore, that I decided to look it up & discovered it was published in 1880. Well, that explains a lot!

I read this as a companion book alongside reading the book of Exodus in the Bible. Although it contained some interesting ideas & views, it didn't really achieve what I was hoping for, which was a simple breakdown of what the book of Exodus meant.

As it turns out, I found Exodus reasonably easy to understand. In fact, it was this companion book that has confused me further, which claims that Christ appears in the book of Exodus. I've only read two books of the Bible so far, so suggestions that Jesus Christ is around before his time, is perhaps a little too much for me to take in at the moment.

Also, being such an old book, it failed to relate issues within Exodus, to modern day living. I've learnt my lesson & will check the publication date of books about the Bible in future.

This book blew my mind! I always knew I was missing key elements whenever I read Exodus, and I surely was! The bronze altar, the incense, the grace and mercy merging together at the cross ~ I will be reading this book so rich in details again. For now, I am moving on to Leviticus.
