Nash-Austin Metropolitan Gold Portfolio 1954-1962

Rate this book
Nash had wanted to build a small economy car for some time and after several studies in the early 50s Nash Kelvinator Corp. announced that the Austin Motor Co. would build the cars on their behalf. These cars embodied Austin A40 and A30 components in the Nash-designed car of which hardtop and Drophead coupT version were produced. In 1956 the body style was µAmericanized' and the engine changed to the A50 making it more acceptable to the US market. By 1957 it was available to the British market and fitted with the B-series engine. Production came to an end in 1962. This was America's first high quality, well-engineered minicar confirmed by the number that still survive. This is a book of contemporary road tests, new model introductions, specification and technical data, driver's impressions, development, used cars on the road, history. Models covered include: Convertible, CoupT, 1200, 1500.
