This is a gem of a book, despite the lacklustre cover artwork - don't judge a book by its cover!
Bender's name should not be unfamiliar to any serious student of German World War Two history as far as organization and equipment of the German Army goes. This book contains a wealth of data - from variants on the tank destruction badge (including post war variants and fakes) to the history of the award, to a listing, complete with photographs, of the men who had the most awards. That would have been enough, but there are also sections on award documents, a discussion of the policy on leave for soldiers so awarded, and a brief discussion with photos of weapons used for anti-tank work by individuals (the requirement for earning the badge).
Very comprehensive look at this unique award, its history, its holders, and how it was earned. Highly recommended.
