Peggy Guggenheim (1898 - 1979) was an American art collector. Born Marguerite Guggenheim to a wealthy New York City family, she was the daughter of Benjamin Guggenheim, (who went down with the Titanic in 1912), and the niece of Solomon R. Guggenheim.
Peggy Guggenheim wrote her autobiography in 1946 entitled Out of This Century, later revised and re-published as Confessions of an Art Addict.
In 1949, she established her art collection in the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni on the Grand Canal in Venice. The Peggy Guggenheim Collection remains one of the most visited attractions in that city.
