Oh, to be young, dumb and full of your self in the 80’s. Alisa is a money grubbing gold digger who sashays through her days wearing this title like a tiara. Feeling life’s all about the expensive gifts and money a man can give her, Alisa follows the steps of her mentor and basks in the glory of using men, until she stumbles upon Omar.
Omar is an African American Muslim trying to fight his demons and find his way back to the proper Islamic behavior he knew as a child. Distraught over disagreements that divided the Muslim community a decade prior, where many Muslims became victim to inner city chaos, Omar became a product of his environment and is at the head of that chaos.
Tired of hearing her mother rant and rave about her gold digging ways, Alisa takes her great grandmother’s advice, "Always get a man who loves you more than you love him." Stumbling upon Omar in his brand new Cadillac, Alisa decides to make him her man, or rather, her victim, or will the tables turn? Hell erupts, splatters like geysers, while skeletons and bones fly out of closets, in this edgy novel, written in the Realism genre, “Life Knows No One Who Loves You More.”
This book was definitely a favorite of mine. This Author really surprised me in a way because im used to reading books with so much profanity and she hardly used any, but this book was off the hook need I say more. I really felt that Omar was a good Guy and Alisa was taking advantage of that, but she learned real quick that you cant take every body for a sucka lol. I highly recommend this book it will not at all disappoint !!
5 Stars. It is a great read and a great story. It's street lit on another level, showing characters even when bad, are human and with human emotion. You don't normally feel for characters who do wrong like you do in this novel. The author humanized them, even the drug dealers and the main character who was annoying at times because of the way she thinks, but it's the true mindset of a young girl you love and hate.
Alisa is a gold-digger using her looks to get what she desires most—money, jewelry and what she believes are the finer things in life. When she has used her latest conquest to their fullest, she drops them cold and moves on to the next one.
Omar is a Muslim gone astray—trying hard to hold onto his religion, but trapped in a corrupt world that was forced upon him. He is struggling to stay true to his faith while doing everything against it.
A chance encounter lands Omar and Alisa in a relationship neither bargained for, with Alisa’s self-centered, drama filled antics placing everyone in danger. Alisa makes matters worse when her misinterpretation of her grandmother’s deathbed advice of finding a man who loves her more places their relationship in jeopardy and drives a wedge between family and friends as well.
Overall, One Who Loves You More, is a good story with an interesting plot, but the narrative voice was a little unsettling to me. I also feel that developmental editing would help tighten up the storyline and correct some of the terminology used. All in all, these things didn’t detract from the novel as a whole. The message becomes apparent in the end and there are enough plot twists and suspense to hold your attention.
273p Alisa is what her mother and aunt call a, "Money grubbing - Gold digger!" She wears this title like a tiara, never looking back, until she runs into Omar. Inspired by Omar 19s brand new Cadillac, money and his feelings for her, Alisa decides to take the advice of her great grandmother, "Always get a man who loves you more than you love him." But Alisa becomes so spoiled rotten and confused she can't smell the flowers because she always sees them as hidden behind bees.
Through it all, Alisa's life story reveals "What becomes of a Gold Digger?"
Sorry because I want to give props to our African American writers, but this book was all over the place. Loved the references to religion, but just because you don't put the whole curse word in the book does not mean you are not cursing.
