Jimmy and Angella find themselves on a special assignment from the President: Find the security breach within the highest level of the government. Track down the terrorists involved in the A-bomb plot before they can carry out their plan. Keep the bomb (or bombs) from exploding. And keep it all quiet. In this sequel to the Padre Puzzle, author David Harry brings us a mystery that twists and turns from South Padre Island across Texas to Washington D.C. and, finally, Mexico. As Jimmy and Angella investigate, it becomes increasingly unclear who is really pulling the strings and who can be trusted. They soon realize that they are pawns in a game that they might not be able to win.

The Padre Predator (David Henry)
Suspense/ Thriller

Aneella and Jimmy are on a special assignment for the President of the United states. They have to find the security breach, track down terrorists, and locate an A-Bomb and deactivate it before it causes mass destruction.

Not knowing who to trust they rely on each other as the go from South Padre Island, through Texas, to Washington D.C. And even Mexico. Filled with twists, turns, and surprises it is a race for time to save the president, the country and themselves.

Intense, fast paced, page turning all night read. I could not put it down. I highly recommend to those who love a thrill ride. Also makes you wonder what goes on behind closed doors, the plot is so believable you may sleep with one eye open and watch over your shoulder.

I intended to read the prequel: The Padre Puzzle

Having read a lot of Agatha Christie in my youth, I am rarely surprised by a mystery novel. So you can imagine my surprise when I was shocked not once, but twice in this book. The author was able to maintain my curiosity and the sense of suspense through out the story! If you like intelligent thrillers, this is a good choice

WOW! So Johnny and Angela (who met in the first book, and I have GOT to go get that one now!)are on a secret mission, direct from the president! Find out who the traitor is, where the missing bomb is, oh, and try not to let the guy who knows how to set off the bomb anywhere near it! Trust no one!

The book has so many twists and turns. Just when you think you have it figured out, another twist comes up. Kept me on the edge of my seat!!! We have political intrigue, long held grudges, and just enough information about South Padre to make you want to visit, and tell you the best places to go.

I highly reccomend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.

Thank you to Mr. Harry (and goodreads, or course) for this thriller; it was fantastic! I read it in two session because I simply couldn't put it down! I would've have read it in a single session but for the fact that it was already 2 in the afternoon and I figured I should probably get out of bed and get dressed. The dogs were very unhappy with me. But seriously, a really good read for anyone who likes their thrillers twisty, fast-paced, paranoid and full of page-turning conspiratorial red herrings. Really fun novel. I hope there are more Redstone/Martinez tales to come.

I really enjoyed this book. For me it started slow but after the first hundred pages it really starts to heat up. This book has many twist and turns. It is very cleaver and makes you think almost every major character is the predator. This book is also very topical, with different governmental intrigue. Once you started reading this you will race to the end to see if who you think is the "bad guy" is one. Highly recommended if you like mysteries or spy novels.

Thank you Mr. Harry for the great book. I love the two main characters and how they interacted with each other. I was anxious to get to the end to see how it all turned out. I have never been to South Padre Island, but it sounds like a fun place. This book was packed full of action. Never a dull moment.

This is one of those books that I read in between other books. What makes it fun for me is that a great part of the book takes place on South Padre Island, TX, and is written by a man who lives across the street from our winter condo. In his first novel, the main character is staying in our complex, The Tiki. This is the second book in a series about a Texas Ranger who gets involved with the Coast Guard, FBI, and CIA in a complicated plot. The book is fun to read and mentions many places on the island, but it almost seems as though it is a thinly veiled advertisement for various restaurants, hotels and gyms.

2nd book was better than the first. Very hard to follow though. As in other comments I’ve read , the editing/proof reading could have been better. I found several grammatical or spelling errors. But i don’t judge a book on that. Loving the complexity of the characters and the different agencies and how they work together or how they don’t. I live on SPI so that lends to the imagination of “that could be happening right here, right now”. Enjoyed it greatly and will definitely read the whole series

I have gone back and read the first book in this series now. While I still say the books can be read as stand alone novels,I would definitely recommended reading them in order. It will only increase your enjoyment of the overall story that begins in the first novel and is concluded in this novel.

Jimmy Redstone is almost healed from his injuries that he received in The Padre Puzzle when he and Angela are summoned to a secret meeting with the President at the White House. He wants Jimmy and Angela to track down the rest of the terrorists and any other bombs form the plot they stopped in the previous novel. That also includes uncovering any high level traitors helping the terrorists. To make it even harder, they have to keep their investigation quiet. They are thrown into a world of secrets and misdirections where everyone is suspect including their own partners and bosses.

The novel is obviously a sequel, but you do not need to have read the first book in the series. The author does an excellent job of giving the reader the necessary knowledge to enjoy the novel without
ruining your chance in reading the first novel later.Non-stop action and lots of red herrings keep the reader guessing about who to trust until the very end.

The characters were well developed and enjoyable.Quite often I felt myself thinking, I like this character so I hope they aren't a traitor.

My two pet peeves are typos and language. There is a handful of typos in the novel, usually of the missing/repeated word type, such as leaving out an article.Nothing major, just little speed bumps when reading.Truthfully better than a lot of books I have read lately.Language was mild which was very nice considering how often people got angry throughout the story. They never reverted to the oh so often used four letter word that is so in vogue in most novels nowadays.Thank you Mr Harry.

This review was originally posted on my blog, Ramblings of a Daydreamer. You can find it, and many more reviews at the blog.

Exciting, action-packed, and fast-paced, The Padre Predator is a terrific, thrilling mystery that is full of surprises.

Carrying on from The Padre Puzzle, Jimmy and Angella are attempting find the breach of security within the government, while tracking down
terrorists and atomic bombs.

I loved that you never knew who to trust. Every time someone seemed to be in the clear, something would happen to make them look guilty again, and every time someone looked guilty, something would happen to seemingly clear their name. It made for an exciting mixture of tension and suspense.

As in The Padre Puzzle, Jimmy is a likable, believable character. He's tough as nails, clever, and quick-witted...and quick tempered. His faults made him human, and lent credibility to his character.

The whole terrorist mystery was so tightly woven, I had no clue how to unravel the mystery, and I just went along for the ride. It was so scary, because it was believable. You know something like that could actually happen, and it's terrifying.

If you're looking for a mystery that will keep you guessing, while at the same time keeping you on the edge of your seat, and mixing in enough humour to lighten the heavy overall tone, I definitely recommend The Padre Predator. Don't forget to start with The Padre Puzzle, the first book in the series!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes alot of action! Texas Ranger Jimmy Redstone is on special assignment from the POTUS to find the leak in the goverment. Redstone & Martinez board a plane to head to DC, only to find out they have been kidnapped & taken to Mexico. The action then only begins, Jimmy gets hurt again, but has to continue the search for the missing key that can set off the atomic bomb. This adventure never ends, thanks David Harry for sharing this book with me. I'm hoping to read more of the Redstone/Martinez team in the future, they will keep you on your toes!!

"The Padre Predator" by David Harry Thank you to Mr. David Harry and Goodreads for the book! A suspenseful thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat! The plot is very intense and believable! The characters were well developed and likable! It really makes you think if our government is as crooked as the author says it is in "The Padre Predator" we are in big trouble! At times "The Padre Predator" was a little difficult for me. I need to read the first book "Padre Puzzle" and the reread this one! With a good producer this could be a great movie!I highly recommend this book!

This is a fast-paced story with good characterization and a definite voice of the protagonist. The plot can stand alone, but I got confused a bit because I hadn't read the previous book. All in all, I think it could've been improved with tighter editing. But I did learn about South Padre Island and it sounds lovely.
