University student Alister Bane is a neat, tidy, ordinary person living a neat, tidy, ordinary life. But all this changes when the flamboyant, other-worldly, and extraordinary Professor Odd waltzes into class and turns his world inside out. Suddenly Alister is thrown into the middle of a cat-and-mouse game between the Professor and alien tentacle monster, while a shadowy group of scientists tries to capture them all.
Can Alister convince them that he is only a hapless bystander? Can life ever return to normal?
One thing is for things are going to get a little bit odd.
"Professor The False Student" is the first in a new series of short sci-fi action-adventure novellas from writer and artist Goldeen Ogawa.
Goldeen Ogawa writes primarily fantasy and science fiction aimed at people of all ages. She lives in a little out-of-the-way town in the mountains of California with four cats, many hats, and a small, fuzzy, red, gay dragon she adopted from Wales.
One of the great things about being a sort-of career insider is getting my hands on stories that fall way outside the mainstream and are written as a labor of love, as opposed to filling the ledgers of some publishing company bean counter.
So it is with "Professor Odd," a Doctor Who pastiche/tribute carved out of its own medium. After a wink and a nod to its inspiration, "The False Student" shakes your expectations. Besides, it has a talking dog. You NEED a talking dog.
