Joel Penton was just a normal teenage guy from a small hometown. His days were filled with school, practice, homework, and friends. The typical stuff. But behind this typical life, Joel had one major he believed the lies. And probably, so do you. So now Joel is on a mission to take down those lies that keep most teens in the dark. In these pages, you'll read all the stuff that Joel isn't allowed to say when he speaks in schools. You'll find answers to the big questions that everyone wonders about...but no one talks about. Questions like, "Is this life all there is?...Why is the world so messed up?...Where does God fit in?" What Joel has to say will probably offend you. You might even get angry. But Joel is okay with that. Because this book is about the stuff that really matters. And the truth is important. So are you ready? Good. Because the blindfold is coming off...
Although I did not like much of the first part because it seemed very cliché to me, as I dove deeper into the book I found new insights that had not really thought of before. The book was definitely motivational because it gave that do not settle for yourself as you are kind of feel. I will bring some of those thoughts to youth group for a discussion.
A tip for any of his future works: I did find some portions a little difficult to understand, especially because it was in motivational speaker format. Also, Mr. Penton kind of made Christians sound like you have to worship God everyday, and there is no room for other hobbies or interests because you would be worshiping your interests. Also, Mr. Penton should not mislead his audience, tell them straight up that this is a Christian book and tell them that even if they are not a Christian they can still learn from your book. Don't try to hide this fact for a later chapter it only makes people upset. It seemed almost like it was trying to trick atheists into reading the book, to find out they don't like it. Other than these minor details, I thought it was a nice read and am recommending it to my peers.
The book I read was 7 Lies almost every Teen believes by Joel Penton. This book is nonfiction and that means there are no made up characters. In this book the way it’s written he makes it feel like your the main character going through the adventure of life. Same with the setting the place where the book takes place is your own mind making you think past what your going to have for lunch at school. This book does have a conflict and that conflict is the conflict of today's current world, and how the big things of the world need to matter in your life and that you can’t procrastinate about your future. I really enjoyed the book. It was a good eye opener. I like how this book was solely focused to a teen audience and how it actually made me think about what am I actually doing with my life. The first thing in this book was literally talking about the big things in life. I agree with this, but to him his big thing in life were what happens after death wich i can totally relate to because I’ve thought of this myself. I mean thinking about that is kind of scary since when you die death is forever its infinite and that’s it. The book was really good and I saw nothing wrong with it. I did like the style of writing. The people that I think would like this book is obviously teenagers I mean it’s in the name. This book definitely achieves a purpose and to me I felt that I learned something. I would recommend this book to myself again. I feel this book is like each time you read it it just gives you a different look on life.

I just finished the book Seven Lies Almost Every Teen Believes by Joel Penton. I wasn't expecting this book to be all about faith and religion. That's the reason why i liked it so much. I also liked that he put himself in the examples and the lies that he heard in his own life and how he managed to get by those obstacles in his life. I thought it was a very motivational book and he said it how it is, which every teen needs to hear that. Especially without all the sugar coating. I would recommend this book to all teens so they know what is coming up and what they hear in the next part of their life, and also in high school.
Seven Lies Almost Every Teen Believes Joel Penton Don't get me wrong I absolutely LOVE this book, but I'm not going to lie. It was a little confusing at times but his message got across. My favorite chapter was #1 but the entire book was AMAZING! To be honest though it was kind of hard to hear reality. I guess I probably needed it though. This book is soon good I stayed up until around 11:30 reading it! I definitely recommend it! <3
*Part of his message was to stop procrastinating and deal with the big things NOW because the big things can't wait. Big things meaning, "Why was I put on this planet?", "What's my purpose?", "Who truly, is God?", Ect.
This book is a very inspirational book for those who are either lost or just wanting to know more about faith. In the book Joel takes bits of passages from the bible and explains them the best he can, but I think that Joel skipped around to much to actually understand what he was trying to say. Some of the topics he explained where long and got kind of boring after a while. The last two chapters were my favorite part because Joel explained what the book really was about and why he wrote it, and it really jumped out to me that he is trying to help people.
The author talks about common misconceptions "that almost every teen believes". He does this through religion, which at first was not what I was expecting this book to be about. I was quite wrong. Even though this book is strictly religion related, I did find some of it helpful to me personally, but the fact that this book is clearly about religion makes it a lot less interesting to me. I'll keep it on the shelf and maybe read through it on a rainy day.
I read three books that are suppose to help you get your life back on track, including this one, the first two i found boring and didn't help at all. this book is the exception to the idea that life help books are boring. i really enjoyed this book. from the jokes to the way he addresses issues (yes he uses the bible so what?) i would suggest this book to anyone a little down in the dumps and doesn't know how to get out.
This book , seven lies that almost every teen believes , is a good book. My favorite lie is about the day he didn't wear any pants. i thought it was funny that he was talking to the governor of Ohio and he didn't even know. One of my least favorite lies was saving private Ryan because all he talk about was god. All in all this was a good book to read and you will get a lot of stuff out of it.
At the beginning he talks about what do you see around you, you see magazines, books, and t.v etc. and he tells you what they all have in common. He tells you that some of them are true and some of them are lies. and that the lies get worse. he tells you that the truth is dangerous and he tells you all of the 7 lies a teen see or hear.
The book Seven Lies Almost Every Teen Believes is an ok book. It talks about lies that we hear all around us from everyone and how we shouldn't believe them. The book really gives you great reasons why we shouldn't believe these lies and it doesn't give you any time for excuses. I think you should read this book because it will help you to not believe these lies.
This book was a very good book. He talked about the everyday lies we hear and how we can handle them. It gets personal and spiritual and I think that's what makes it so good. Everyone who gets an opportunity should read this book. It's very entertaining, informational, and an overall good read.
Joel talked about the seven lies that almost every teen believes. He does this through religion. The fact that he talks about religion makes this book very uninteresting to me.I kept with it and finished it hoping that it would get better.
What I liked about this book was how Joel got to the point and made sure that you understood what he was talking about. I think Joel did a good job on making things clear when or if people don't understand what he is talking about.
i enjoyed this book it thought me lost of stuff about myself and others, but i kinda bored me because i was interested but i would just read though some of the parts to just get through it. over all i would still rec-amend this book to other people.
It was funny, sad, weird, and educational all at once. The one story about his two sons was very funny. Another story about the sheep that walked off the edge of a cliff was just plain weird. I also learned a lot by reading this book as well.
This book was a very good book. I like it because it shows examples in his life and how he handled it. This book is very motivated. I recommend this book for people to read.
