Reviews

[Renee Layberry]

After having read The Dirty Milkman and The Goon, I knew what to look forward to and I was not disappointed. Jerrod has a gift for revealing the characters through simple human moments in a way that feels moving, raw, and sincere. I was pleased to see subtle mention of characters from his previous books, and felt I was running into old neighbors from around town. The story (and multiple story lines) came together in a pleasingly loose knit, and was quietly confident enough to resolve itself without particularly optimistic endings. After three good books, I'll call myself a fan of Edson, for sure.
