Sketchtravel

The coolest book that I've ever read!
"This red sketchbook was passed from one artist's hand to another like an Olympic torch in an artistic relay through 12 countries over 4 and half years. This traveling museum contains the personal visions of 71 exceptional illustrators, animators and comic book artists. Initiated by illustrators Dice Tsutsumi (Japan) and Gerald Guerlais (France), the project will culminate in an auction of the original book in Brussels on October 17, 2011. Proceeds from the auction and royalties from the book's publication will be donated to the international literacy non-profit, Room to Read."

A vacation for my eyes! Interesting project to have each artist devote one page of their work in this book, then pass along to the next (no mailing). A variety of medium and expressions. Serious, laugh-out-loud funny, whimsical, dangerous, dark - it's all in this book.

A magnificent collection of sketches, drawings, paintings from different cartoon artists all over the world. Just brilliant. Hayao Miyazaki and Quentin Blake are in here - two of my idols - and a host of other incredibly talented cartoonists who I'm just discovering.
