Dr. Gary Kidney is a historical fiction author best known for The Eagle Scout Picture, a gripping World War II espionage thriller that follows a young American boy working undercover in Nazi Germany. His writing combines historical depth, emotional storytelling, and moral courage, immersing readers in vivid moments of history and human resilience.
Before dedicating himself to writing, Dr. Kidney built an accomplished career in education and academic technology. Over the years, he’s taught hundreds of professors how to use technology in the classroom and guided more than a thousand students, from middle school to graduate levels, through innovative learning experiences. He retired as Deputy Chief Information Officer at Yale University in 2015, after serving at Rice University, the University of Maryland, and the University of Houston–Clear Lake.
Dr. Kidney holds multiple degrees, including a Doctorate in Education from the University of Houston and an MFA in Creative Writing from Albertus Magnus College, where The Eagle Scout Picture began as his master’s thesis.
When he’s not writing, he enjoys exploring history, mentoring aspiring authors, and connecting with readers who share his passion for stories rooted in truth and courage.
