A fictional trip through America, the images and the accompanying texts in this book play against each other juxtaposing ideas and sensations. It reappropriates the documentary tradition to create an American narrative that casts the reader adrift in a world of vernacular objects.

Nostalgia, dark humor, beauty, whispers. Transmitting, ordinary, secular and spiritual. This collection of photographs and paired writings is a beautiful work of art in itself. The duo truly brings the collaborative effort to a new height. Barthelme's words add greatly to Lipper's shots.

FB's so tender with the ordinary. His words and Lippert's photos remind us to scratch beneath the surface of what would be easier to ignore.
