The letters were enjoyable-a lost art-letterwriting, that is. Letters to family, sweethearts and siblings from both sides of the United States Civil War that showed the heartache and tenacity of humankind during war. I enjoyed the quilt blocks that went with each letter.

As a quilter and history buff, I enjoyed reading these letters with my Civil War Quilt Club. Have toured many of the Civil War sites so the letters were a vivid reminder of what took place.
